Hello!
My name is David and I’m a design manager with over 15 years of experience leading projects and teams in a variety of industries. I’m currently a Senior Design Manager at Silicon Valley Bank (now part of First Citizens Bank) where I am shaping the design team and infusing my depth of experience in UX/UI and service design. How I can help
-
For 15 years I have led high functioning design teams, both in design delivery as well as in a career development capacity. I have experience in all aspects of management including hiring, performance management, ensuring design quality, cross-functional stakeholder collaboration, budget and outside agency management.
-
I believe design needs a seat at the table when planning product improvements. In collaboration with product and development partners, I am comfortable and adept at influencing and shaping increment planning, scoping design programs and projects, proposing timeline and budget cost estimations, and working within budget and time constraints.
-
One of my strengths is design communication via presentation and storytelling. My experience as a design consultant has helped me fine tune my storytelling abilities, and I'm very effective at presenting work and crafting a story based on the audience- from small intimate work sessions all the way up to C-suite presentations. I have also spoken at a number of conferences, most notably SXSW.
-
In addition to management responsibilities and tasks, I also find joy and success in facilitating blue sky workshops, conceiving of and sketching proposed solutions, applying prioritization frameworks, creating click-throughs and future vision collateral, generating excitement and achieving buy-in for new concepts.
-
I'm comfortable and capable scoping and building research plans, creating and implementing surveys, conducting user interviews, synthesizing and presenting results, creating and sharing service blueprints and journey maps.
-
My most developed craft-based skills track back to my earliest tasks as a UX designer, and when needed I'm still adept at creating sketches, wireframes, concepts, user journeys, and service blueprints.
